Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has attended the turbaning ceremony of his nephew Mukhtar Tukur as Ajiyan Bakori by the Makaman Katsina, District Head of Bakori, Alhaji Garba Tukur Idris.
The new Ajiyan Bakori, who is the son of the elder sister of the Governor, Hajia Hauwa Radda, was turbaned alongside nine other traditional title holders.
They include Ibrahim Tukur as Wazirin Makama, Alhaji Shehu Ishiye as Cigarin Makaman Katsina, and Alhaji Ali Abubakar as Sarkin Fada the Second.
Others include Alhaji Mukhtar Hamza Idris as Wakilin Makaman Katsina, Alhaji Muhammad Isah Abdulkadir as Danmalikin Makama, Alhaji Alhasan Sai'du as Sarkin Aikin Makama, and Alhaji Haruna Mohamed as Dan Kafi.
The rest are Alhaji Yusuf Isah Abdulkadir as Falakin Makama and Awwalu Usman Kandarawa as Daniyan Makaman Katsina.
In his address, the Makaman Katsina, District Head of Bakori, Alhaji Garba Tukur Idris reminded the newly turbaned title holders that "leadership is a trust" and therefore urged them "to contribute meaningfully in ensuring the development of the area."
He then thanked the State Governor, Malam Radda, "for his firm commitment in addressing security challenges in the state."
Also speaking, the Chairman of Bakori Local Government, Alhaji Aminu Dan Hamidu, pleaded with the state government "to construct Bakori-Tsiga and Bakori-Kurami roads." This, he said, was in addition to "rehabilitation of Kabomo Earth Dam."
In attendance at the ceremony were the State Deputy Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe, the National Coordinator New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), Alhaji Abdullahi Jabiru Tsauri, the Executive Director Agric Services of Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority, Alhaji Muntaka Badaru Jikamshi, some members of the executive and legislative arms, as well as traditional title holders and other well-wishers.
